6 Books for Beginners

Just imagine, you have got stuck in a tunnel. There is just darkness everywhere. You are not able to see anything. You feel miserable. You want to get out of it, but it’s too long. You need patience, perseverance and most importantly you need light. Suddenly, you see a glimmer of light. It’s not the light at the end of the tunnel because the end is very far. But it is the light which will show you the path and will keep you going.
That my friend, that light represents a book for us. Books are the light of life which will help you in passing this dark tunnel.
I have started reading when I was a little kid. But not all of us, starts reading in childhood. They start in their adulthood or in teenage. They read some book, but doesn’t find it that much interesting or they find the language to be tough. As a result, they stop reading.
Some of them are unsure which book to pick. So, in this post I’ll be talking about some of the books which are best to read if you are a beginner.

“If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.” – J.K. Rowling

  1. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Paulo Coelho is one of the very renowned authors. He is mostly famous for his philosophical writing. The Alchemist is one of the most read books. Some people even find it hyped, but I don’t agree with them.

I won’t say, “The Alchemist” is best work of Paulo Coelho for me. But it is undoubtedly the best book for someone who is a beginner. The story is simple yet powerful and it has lots for interpretation hidden for the reader to decode.

Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.

The Alchemist is a story about Santiago is a shepherd living in Spain. He gets a dream that there is some treasure in Egypt. He embarks on his journey to Egypt in search of that treasure. He meets some people in his journey, and everyone teaches him something. He experiences some difficulties too, but he doesn’t give up and continues his conquest. This is a story about dreams.

2. The Curious Incident of Dog in Night-time by Mark Haddon

This book is one of my best reads of this year. It is written from the point of view of a 15-year old boy suffering from Asperger Syndrome – Christopher. One night, he found his neighbour’s dog Wellington as dead. Police suspect that he has killed the dog, but it wasn’t true. Afterward, Christopher decides to search for the real culprit and write a crime fiction while doing so.

Its language is simple, funny and witty as well. Chapters are also very short. At some point, you will laugh and at some point you will cry, but it will be a beautiful journey reading this book.

3. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

This book is basically a diary written by a Jewish girl named Anne Frank. It contains her experiences during the time of Holocaust. Her diary shows the life of Jewish people during the second world war. She is a teenager who is full of mature thoughts over everything. I have already written a complete post about Anne Frank

Its language is easy and it is genuinely interesting. Since the beginning of the book, till the end, you will experience a complete different emotions.

4. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

fu

If you want to read a beautiful contemporary love story, then this the book for you. It is the love story of a girl Hazel, who is a cancer patient, and Augustus, who lost his legs because of osteosarcoma. It has also been adapted in a movie. It is intact with heart-touching, heart-breaking and witty quotes. You can read them over and over again.

I’m a grenade and at some point I’m going to blow up and I would like to minimize the casualties, okay?

5. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

sher

Sherlock Holmes is a detective whom we all must know. You must have watched different TV series and movies based on it. There are many books of Sherlock Holmes available, but most of them are in a series. So, I would not suggest beginning with that. But, I will suggest you to read this book. It is a collection of various stories which demonstrates the adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

If you read a book which is full of suspense and thrill, it keeps you hooked till the end. You enjoy the whole experience of reading. So, a thriller book is an awesome book to start reading.

6. Books by Ruskin Bond

Ruskin Bond has been my favourite author since childhood. He is more like an author grandpa for me. He mostly writes for children, but his books are loved by people of any age. If you want to read something light, beautiful, related to nature and most importantly which reminds you of your childhood, then pick any book by Ruskin Bond. You will cherish it.

So, its my recommendation to beginners to must read a book by Ruskin Bond.

That’s it for today. I hope it would have been helpful for you. If you want to add more to the list, then please share it in comments.

I have written this post for #AtoZChallenge and my theme is “Love for the books”.
