I am Another You by Priya Kumar

Title: I am Another You

Author: Priya Kumar

Genre: Motivation, Spirituality

About the Author: Priya Kumar is an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker. She has published 10 inspirational books. She has worked with many corporates across 44 countries. One of her book has been even adapted into a web series.

About the Book: This book is about the spiritual journey of the author Priya Kumar. Her journey starts when she was suffering in her life. In search of spirituality, she decides to attend some rituals of Shamans in the Netherlands.

Shamanism is a spiritual practice which heals your soul with the help of nature. It removes all negativities and illness at soul level. Their rituals are extraordinary that you would think that what one could gain out of this.

This spiritual journey was not an easy one for Priya. She needed strong will and determination to continue it. With every day, she learnt something new and was a completely evolved person in the end.

There are many lessons about life in this book. Priya experiences some problems and some dilemma, which are not different from ours. And with every chapter, these dilemmas are solved with her spiritual journey.

She had a doubt in her mind that as she is into a spiritual practice still her desires are materialistic. She wants to earn as much as possible. But, her spiritual teacher told her that there is nothing wrong in thinking so. Spirituality doesn’t only mean leaving your homes and jobs. But it also means to keep doing your job and practice spirituality while doing something beneficial for mankind.

My Take: I have recently read three books by the author. Earlier, I did not know about her. Last year, one of her book got adapted into a web series “The Final Call.” It was just brilliant and forced me to read her book. Most of her books are inspirational.

I have not read many books about spirituality, so in the beginning I was little sceptical. But with every chapter, my doubts were nowhere to find. Each chapter was having a surprise waiting for me. This book tells about self-worth, pain, challenges of life and that inner world within us. It tells us that there is nothing wrong in the outside world, but it wrong in the inside world which needs to be amended.

In every chapter, Priya overcome a challenge and we also get one life-lesson with her.

The most beautiful thing about this book is the meaning of its title “I am another you”. For this it would be better to share these lines from the book.

The Shamans have a very beautiful greeting when they meet a stranger: “In Lak’ech” (I am another you). How beautiful I am another you. How naive to think that I am different or I am the only one. We are all the same beings, the same force, partaking of the same pressure and the same passion.

“I am another You” gives a very important lesson of understanding others as another us, so that we treat everyone as we treat ourselves.

In the end of every chapter, there are few points which sums up about the things taught in that particular chapter.

I specially loved how rituals of Shamans has related everything with nature. I strongly believe that nature actually has power to heal us.

This book is basically a guide which you can read from any page and can learn something. We have lots of issues in our life and most of them are because of our inner conflicts. This book has tried to help us in solving these conflicts.

If you like to read some spiritual stuff or you want something motivational, then you must pick it up once.
